Day 6

Day 6: We left Toledo alive and headed east (again!). I found a great pit stop outside of Cleveland on Lake Erie to take in the view. So cool! Then off to Buffalo for some wings at the Anchor Bar.
Last up for the day, Niagra Falls. THEY ARE AMAZING! We were so excited we jumped on the Maiden of the Mist's last ride of the day and got a front and center view. As Axel said "this was worth the whole car trip!". The light show and fireworks kept us busy until 10pm, and now we lay comatose in our hotel. Tomorrow... bring on the lake!

Day 5

Well, we all still like each other!
We left Sioux Falls this am, poked thru Chicago and stopped to play at the sand dunes of Lake Michigan and put our feet in the water. Then onto Toledo for the night. I have been highly amused about staying in Toledo. But as in any good adventure, here we sit.... In a smelly hotel room with a pool closed by the city; no tv, internet or sheets... Now to bed... tomorrow we see Niagra Falls!

Day 4

Well, today we enjoyed a late sleep in to recover from the last few fun fulled days. So we hit the road about 11am and drove, stopped, drove and stopped. Some fun stops and surprising senery changes.  From flat to tree filled hills, we crossed the Mississipi and into Wisconson we traveled! And it rained.... again.

Day 3

Day 3:

Deadwood gave us a good send off with the gold mine tour at broken boot. A really good tour, especially since it was just us!
Next up Mt. Rushmore. That is AMAZING!
Then a long journey into what we now call "our storm" as we caught up with it once more into Sioux Falls.
The next 2 days bring random road side stops... bring it ball of twine!

Day 2

Well today was a lot about finding the best in our day. The long drive thru eastern Montana was beautiful and sunny, but filled with preperation as we headed into the dark skies of Deadwood. As we prepared we called to find out if the outdoor reinactments were still on. Nope, so we planned on museums in the rain! Well, the museum we wanted to see was closed as well... so we arrived with a plan of dinner at salon 10 for the only indoor reinactment and grab dinner!
FYI, Deadwood is not as kid friendly as advertised. So a quick (and quite gross) dinner sent us on our way on a walking tour, as all of the attractions are more gaming halls and bars than historical attractions. A long steep hike brought us to the cemetary and grave of Wild Bill and Clamaty Jane. It was a demanding trail on our dormant legs, but good for us all. A family game of marco polo in the tiny salty pool and we are piled into beds for the night.
Oh, and i have now been banned from picking food destinations as well.... 🤢

You are driving back east?? Day 1

Things we learned:
It rains a lot in Montana.
Cheetos can be teeth.
The museum of the rockies is cool!
You can find 24 different states licences plates at the museums parking lot.
The hotel called The Yellowstone Pioneer Lodge is not.
I am not allowed to pick "fun sounding hotels" anymore.
